Hydro power - Gaj II

Raheja Infra has one more highly renowned project to its credit - Gaj - II Hydropower Project. It is situated in the Kangra district, 17 kilometres from Dharamshala, of Indian state Himachal Pradesh (HP). Located at an altitude of 1030 m on Gaj Khad, this project caters to the commercial needs this state in a highly efficient manner.

Himachal Pradesh is potentially rich in hydroelectricity resources, which also provide an additional source of income to the state. With various hydropower projects, HP provides electricity to other states as well to raise capitals.

Gaj - II Hydropower Project is one of the renowned projects in HP that adds to the power potential of this state. The state government has given the highest priority to power development to cater to the increasing electricity demands. This is because hydel power in HP has the potential to meet the growing demands to cater to industrial needs, rural and agricultural demands. Gaj - II Hydropower Project, executed by Raheja Infra, does the same by supplying power for commercial needs.

While it is known that HP has a high potential for hydropower, there is a big misconception surrounding this. The state suffers enough power shortage during winters. The shortage overshoots around 10 lakh units a day due to freezing and less flow of water in rivers, at the same time due to lighting and heating loads. However, various projects still provide enough power to HP and neighbouring states.

Gaj - II hydropower project, executed by Raheja, maintains conformity to standards, and proves to be significant for the commercial development of the state.
